How has the World Cup Affected South Africa?

The Power Of Sport. Daniel Seligsohn

There was no freedom

There was no fire

There was no reason

To try and climb higher

Two races together

Together in one place

But each was so different

And this was the case

One roamed the streets

The other was in power

And when put together

Things turned sour

The government was corrupt

Things were falling apart

South Africans weren't so happy

As they had loss of heart

But then something happened

A miracle had been found

And as time went on

South Africa slowly turned around

You can say this was Mandela

And your certainly not wrong

But there was something else

That brought spirit and song

This miracle was a sport

That all of Africa adored

And when the time had come

Their spirits soared

This sport was called soccer

The Soccer World Cup

South Arica was re-built

And everything went up

Bafana Bafana was South Africa's new craze

The country was ready and excited

For the upcoming days

Vuvuzelas, football fever and liveliness

Were at every station

Something special was in the air

All around the Rainbow Nation

It brought people together

From all around the Earth

To watch the greatest game ever

To be played on turf

The economy improved

Roads and highways brand new

Better infrasturcture was built

As well as transport too

The Soccer World Cup made people unite

It brought the nation together

And created a beautiful sight

How the soccer changed the nation

It brought amazement to our eyes

And the whole world all hopes and believes

That the spirit, never dies

For my Writing Component, we are required to complete two different writing tasks. These tasks may include a poem, exposition, letter or any other form of writing. For my first task, I have combined it into my making of the website. Designing and writing your own website is included as a task, so this fits in perfectly. And for the other task I have written a poem called: The Power Of Sport.
